Shine-less Shiney

And at the verge of the emotions, when the protagonist of the drama is about to leave everything and has lost the hope of getting the beautiful princess, a miracle happens and the seeds of feelings are borne on the toughest terrain of the heart of the so perceived heroine. There is an element of melodrama added to this recipe and finally the story ends with … “…and they lived happily ever after”. If this is the ending you are expecting from a movie, then Shiney Ahuja better not be in the lead.

In almost all the movies the poor boy is someway or other deprived of his beloved. I have been a fan of him since his debut in Hazaaron Khwahishe Aisi (HKA) and since then for every Shiney-movie, I go with the hope to finally see the guy with the gal. Especially the characters he plays are so desperate for the lady but somehow the desperations end in the desertion.

To start with let us look at the movie HKA. The movie is on the background of the Naxalites movement in West Bengal and surrounding areas. From the start itself the actress denies him of any feelings and eventually he even gets married to other gal .The story takes its toll and at the end trying to save the lover of the heroine this guy gets beaten up by villagers and ends up in a mental trauma rendering him paralytic for life.

But exactly opposite to this, Shiney is totally in senses in the movie Woh Lamhe and is in love with Kangana who plays a character of high nosed movie actress. This guy is able to win the attitude of the gal but now the gal turns out to be insane and eventually leaves him for good .All in all, he is alone again.

In the recently released movie Shiney falls for a married lady, played by Shilpa Shetty and at the end of it again burdened by the values of Indian society Shilpa returns to her legally wedded husband. Taking trail from this if we see the movie Gangster seems to be ideal where Shiney is married to the gal and also both of them are ‘Non-psycho’, but to his dismay this time his profession comes in the way and the guy is sent to coffin.

Last but not the least in the movie Zindagi Rocks, Shiney suffers the loss twice. First love of his, suffers an accident and she is in coma and further as the story advances he finds Sushmita but eventfully she sacrifices her life for her adopted kid.

So I feel that some how Bollywood has been unfair to this guy denying him of love in almost all the movies and always left him at ‘boulevard of broken dreams’. Still I will keep watching his movie not only because I enjoy his acting but also in the hope that he finds his match and leaves happily after with her. Our Shiney will shine one day.

Vaibhav – “live your work or u have to leave it”
